	Welcome to Troop 945
	Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 945! Troop 945 has been serving the Damascus, Maryland Community with a history of excellence since 1989. The Troop meets on Monday evenings at the Wildlife Achievement Chapter of the Damascus Izaak Walton League located on Mullinix Mill Road just off Route 108. Membership is open to boys entering 6th grade, up through High School. A Venture Crew is open to girls as well as boys beginning with High School. Troop 945 Scouts learn essential camping, cooking and survival skills, as well as personal management, community citizenship, leadership, communication and other essential qualities that prepare them for full and successful participation in modern society, while remaining grounded in timeless values. The site is intended for those interested or already participating members of the Troop; kids and their parents. Commercial interests and other unwelcome incursions will likely be ignored or rebuffed. If you feel that you fall into a grey area, please feel free to contact the webmaster.

	Rank Advancement - by dave945 04/03/2009 @ 12:15 Hello Everyone, Mr. Mike Myers is planning to do some cooking preparation work at Merit Badge Weekend later this month to help out our new scouts from Pack 1438 with their rank advancement. He asked me to send out email to the Troop to see if there were any other scouts who also need to meet cooking requirements for rank advancement. If you are on of those scouts and are planning to attend Merit Badge weekend, please send me and Mr. Myers and email so he can plan accordingly. Thx Mr. Dawson ^... / ... The trip will take place on July 11-23, 2009. We have only a few spots left, so if you are interested, get your reservation in now for a trip of a lifetime. I promise you won't regret taking advantage of this oppportunity. Please contact Mr. McMinn at w.e.mcminn@comcast.net to reserve your spot. He will require a non-refundable deposit of $300 by the Sept 29 Court of Honor meeting. The Troop has to send our 50% deposit in by October 1, so don't hesitate in contacting Mr. McMinn today!! The Legion will be bringing in a busload of wounded soldiers from Walter Reed Hospital as the featured guests for the day. Our job is to be there with cheers and smiles to greet them when they arrive. The legion will provide us with flags to wave; flags are to be returned at the end of the day. The bus pulls in between 10 and 10:15. We should be there by 9:45 to be ready to greet them when they arrive. The event itself runs from 10:30 to 2:30. Our duty ends with the welcome, but we are invited to stay. They will have a band there, not sure what sort of tunes... Food will be available for modest prices, proceeds are a fundraiser for Operation 2nd Chance. Full uniform, of course. ^... / ...
